Fabric for bow ties
My wife has recently started a business called Glen James Bow Ties. She designs and produces traditional, hand crafted bow ties in woven silk, wool, and silk/wool combinations. We have been more than pleased with our fabric sources thus far, Stephen Walters for silk and Ingles Buchan for wool. We would like to expand on these sources for next year. Are there any good recommendations? Thank you gentleman.
What sort of palette are you aiming for? Exotic and rich, like Noeud Papillon, or classic and fusty (like much of Sam Hober)?
Classic The goal is an aesthetic one, to bring the bow tie into the mainstream of business and social dressing, We feel that this is the right approach. Bow ties are cleaner, cheaper, more practical and much more comfortable than long ties. No reason not to wear one except for common aesthetics and our view is that bow ties look just as well. They just take some getting use to by the tie wearing gentleman.
So you want Macclesfields, reppes, etc?
Yes, and a few crests, solids, polka dots.
