Prince Philip
The duke of Edinburgh wore clothes about as well as anyone. Tall ,slender and always in straight posture I have long admired his presentation. I trust he looks even better now,
A Kent client, I believe-- from back in his days at one of the firms that recently had morphed into a mediocre shirt emporium. I don't know if his cutter is making things that well now, as HRH might easily have stopped purchasing 30 years ago.
Some time back, I quoted here a snippet from a book by a NY columnist who spent the summer of the royal wedding in London, making funny observations. He noted at the time that Philip's clothes were having an impact on gentlemen who aspired to be recognized as such. Much came from the naval influence-- he did without showing shirt cuff, and insisted on perfect mobility for his arms, carving out windmills in his tailor's dressing room to be sure he was getting it.

Single breasted waistcoat. Not one, but two undone.
And it appears that the waistcoat is cut to prevent them buttoning; the points sweep outward to parallel the cutaway line of the morning coat. A nice subtlety, if indeed intended:
All told, one of SR's best spokesmen. Is there anyone who wore his clothes better?

An absolutely despicable person who should not be worshipped no matter what he wore.
This kind of statement says more about the writer than the person he is talking about. De mortuis nil nisi bene.Jimmy9lives wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 7:03 pmAn absolutely despicable person who should not be worshipped no matter what he wore.

Why should a man who utterly despised humanity be immortalized because of clothing(that someone was forced to give him)?davidhuh wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 9:04 pmThis kind of statement says more about the writer than the person he is talking about. A true honorable man in his position would do everything possible to uplift humanity instead of debasing it.

Has there ever been in human history an elite that has done more damage to the world, impoverished more nations and spread untold misery throughout the world in the last 500 years than the so called 'British nobility'?
Jimmy old chap, you seem to be suffering from an excess of bile. I suggest finding somewhere else to spew it.Jimmy9lives wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 9:18 pmWhy should a man who utterly despised humanity be immortalized because of clothing(that someone was forced to give him)?davidhuh wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 9:04 pmThis kind of statement says more about the writer than the person he is talking about. Jimmy you need to step back and take a breath.
I invite you to read up on The Guinea Pig Club as a starter.

He was my favorite royal and Jimmy is absolutely right. A man can be more than one thing.
