Well shoot. Who is there now?
Re Peter Smith leaving and moving next door to RA, has this been confirmed?smudger wrote:I am told he is heading next door to Richard Anderson. I believe the term "more Huntsman than Huntsman" to be spot in. Irrespective of quality, I have been in to sample roubi l roubi's new designs. Although the quality might be present as the RTW before them and like all decent Savile Row RTW, the designs are appalling and devoid of the Huntsman DNA and does not reflect in anyway the heritage of the company. They are more suited, If you'll pardon the pun, placed in a shop window in Oxford St.

^ Yes, confirmed. My SR tailor (at a different shop) said the same.
I've also heard that another group of Hunstman tailors is scheduled to decamp to Dunhill over the coming weeks. It must be a sad state of affairs at Huntsman, if these tailors perceive an international luxury brand to be a better home for their skills.

Definitely interesting. I have to mention, I have been in one of Gieves HKG locations. Was fairly depressing experience.
Fine reading on the topics of our interest, thank you Badden.
By the way, that chap in the kilt is not outside the G&H store as informed in the article. Covent Garden, maybe?
Regarding "'Money is necessary, but chasing it is vulgar". How easily we forget that Savile Row houses are businesses. It´s not the chasing what is vulgar, but showing it too much and selling your soul on the way.

I didn't get a response to my email to them.

Does he not have a son who is preparing to take over the business ?

Yes. RA sent out a glossy A5 booklet to its customers entitled "Today and Tomorrow", mine arrived this morning. It lists some key staff, one per page except for Richard Anderson and Brian Lishak who share the first page. Rebecca Devlin (cutter at RA for 10 years) occupies the second page and Peter Smith has page three; his role is described as "sales manager". I've also seen Peter there on at least one occasion recently when I was in for a fitting.dopey wrote:Re Peter Smith leaving and moving next door to RA, has this been confirmed?
