Gentlemen,

I am sure this question has been posed before, but I was unable to find a relevant thread.

I am in possession of a RTW dinner suit with grosgrain silk lapels. I will be wearing a bow tie in raw Shantung silk which I am very fond of.

I am however contemplating acquiring a cummerbund, and my question is therefore, should the cummerbund be in grosgrain, as the lapels, or in raw Shantung silk (if at all obtainable)?

Thanks,
S

I would feel a grosgrain cummerbund to be preferable. Shantung silk, as wonderful as it is, is best used as a singular accent, lest it seems contrived.

I agree with "rogie". A little silk goes a long way, on a man.
