Finally I have a job paying well enough so that I may experience a bespoke suit. Unfortunately it is based in Sydney Australia. I have 5 weeks before I leave London, is there any chance of anywhere being able to make a bespoke suit (or at least get all of the fittings done) in London in this timescale and will there be a reduction in quality due to the rush?

I managed to get two fittings in ten days. Finished jacket then sent by mail.

Many tailors might agree to do something similar -- provided you will warn them some time in advance.

As for reduction in quality, I would say that lack of subsequent visits (to let your tailor look at the finished suit and make notes on possible improvements in subsequent comissions) is much worse.

If the worst comes to the worst, Guido of the Most Exerent Brog seems to do alright downunder with P Johnson http://www.pjohnson.com.au.

We still have a very few excellent bespoke tailors left in Sydney if things don't work out for you in London.

I didn't expect anybody reading this to have experience of Sydney tailors but if they can be recommended of course that would be preferable based on the short time that I have here. I suppose the row will survive another few years until I'm back. I expect I will benefit from the Sydney tailor's knowledge of what sort of weights are desirable given the local climate too.

Any advice on Sydney tailors much appreciated, I'm looking for 2 button SB suits with a softer shoulder.

The beauty of bespoke tailoring is that tailors are everywhere! We shouldn't forget that. London, Milano, Napoli - these are just bastions, capitals, but the "sartorial province" is no less valuable or capable.
For best results, use a tailor close to your home.

Patrick Johnson is a great option, essentially it's a mtm service but it offers excellent value for money at a different price point to Sydney bespoke tailors. The suits a make in Europe with a reasonably quick turn around time.

At least two of the tailors I have listed have experiences at the Row. Bijan was a working at H Huntsman at his younger years and J H Cutler have trained at the Row at some stage of his career. I have personally worked with all three tailors below they are all very different in terms of styling. If you are after something with a softer shoulder I would suggest you take a visit to see Bijan or Adamo both will cut a coat with very soft shoulders. J H Cutler cuts more of a structural coat with a heavier canvass.

If you need more information about these tailors just send me a PM and I'll be happy to make an introduction for you once you are settle in Sydney.
