Suit Collar Design
If it has some of the same characteristics as Melton, corduroy would be a nice thing for that space.
In devising an elegant solution to this I was inspired by the throat latch design of one of my old jackets of Huntsman lineage. I enlarged the "gorget" as it were (to use a military term for what is essentially an army tunic), which allowed it to fully protect the throat and neck.
Such an endeavour would only be possible through bespoke, as the golden triangle of jacket lapels and closure had to be coordinated to fit just snugly enough to keep out wind, while being as comfortable as possible.

Like this?culverwood wrote:I cannot see how this design would work - on a similar coat I have there are two buttons behind the collar and the tab with two buttonholes is normally kept on the inside if the coat beside the left inside pocket.marcelo wrote:
There also seems to be one variation where the tab is fully detachable. It remains concealed beneath the collar, but can be put to use during a storm, allowing the jacket to be completely closed. The tab is workable without being conspicuous. In the images below Edward Fox plays the role of Duke of Windsor. The tab is not really being used, but it is visible as the collar is turned up all around.
http://www.savilerow.blogs.com/.......And a good client in USA now has one , and 'one', is a kidney attachment. You can probably guess the reason
from the photographs, but if not, the kidney attachment allows him to keep his neck warm when the wind whips across
Mirror Lake NH where he sails his boat. When he comes ashore it is easily removed and fastened on the inside of the
jacket. How cool is all this, and it certainly compliments his incredible boat.
