I gave into temptation and ordered a pair of Silvermans replica Sixties British Army shorts. Having received them I'm very impressed. They're made of heavy cloth, the buckles are removable for washing (like the Rubinacci ones) and the fit seems good. They're also over £100GBP cheaper than Rubinacci's version! I'll post a photograph on the Esquire UK website next week.
Now I've also ordered a pair of trousers in the same cloth, with the same waistband, from Silvermans. I have high hopes that they'll be a classic narrow military fit. And just think - Silvermans' bargain RTW wear clothes leave me with more money to spend with my tailor on jackets and suits.
Shorts for summer
Manself,
How long are these Silvermans shorts? Do they stop just above the knees?

Good news, Manself. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have any waist narrower than 32 online, or I'd jump. My vintage BR ones are too threadbare to be presentable in public, and I could use another pair. If you happen to be in a position to learn whether they have a 30 or 31 in the store itself, I'd be interested to know. Otherwise I may try the ones from What Price Glory.

I have received my pair from WPG and they are quite nice. They are a tad too long to my tastes, but that's easily resolved. My biggest gripe is the position of the buckles which is really more on the back of the shorts than on the front. This makes donning the short a somewhat lengthy process, but once they sit, they sit very good.
There's a photograph of my Silverman's shorts here:

In the meantime the trousers version of these shorts has arrived and they're very good, really sturdy with a great roomy but shaped cut, while being dirt cheap and made in the UK.

I read this topic on Tuesday and ordered a pair of the 60's shorts from Silvermans. They arrived yesterday (Thursday)and I'm very pleased with them. Extremely comfortable around the waist and a good fit over the backside. I'm quite tall and they come to about an inch and a half over the knee. My wife was astounded when I told her they were army surplus. They will make their debut in the Med next week along with a new pair of Seersucker trousers I had made.
Manself, so you found a 'made in the UK' label somewhere on the trousers? And on the shorts?Manself wrote:There's a photograph of my Silverman's shorts here:

I got the shorts and am very pleased with them (I found no country of origin label); I am thinking of getting the trousers as well. However, I do not think it's feasible to produce them in the UK to sell at those prices. I asked the seller about where the shorts were made but received a reply that ducked the rather simple and straightforward question. Perhaps a legal compliance issue might be at hand? I hope I'm wrong...

I had the pleasure of visiting Silvermans recently in London. Its quite a shop, full of alot of the right stuff for outdoor wear.
I found their cross belt shorts too short for me so I carried off a few pair of the trousers that a tailor will convert into just above the knee shorts. I will have to keep one as a full length trouser because they are a very good cut and fit.
Cheers
Michael
