Your Recommendations for Mills

I'm starting to slowly build a custom wardrobe and would like to make the right choice in terms of cloth mills.

I don't want fancy cloth but do want the best quality in terms of longevity, depth of color and quality of manufacture.

The number of makers and books available at tailors is overwhelming. I would just like to focus on one or at most two cloth makers for business wear and weekend country wear.

What are your recommendations, please?

I would think that for countrywear, the best quality tweeds and Shetlands, and also probably with the most interesting colors, is Scabal, though this is probably subject to debate.

For businesswear, flannels, solid, traditional English quality cloth, no need to look further than the Lesser books. There are other good firms but if you just want to look at one firm, Lesser will cover all of your needs admirably. Ask any tailor: it's got the best reputation of them all.

I like the Scabal Shetland book a lot as well. I could order five or six jackets from it.
