silk-knit ties - how seasonal?

Are silk-knit ties appropriate only in the spring or summer? (There are of course colours that are only appropriate in certain seasons, but what about solid navy or burgundy?)

I think that they are appropriate year-round. The rough texture of the knit pairs well with tweed, at least to my mind.
