I can confirm that I left Poole's at the very end of 2006. I would advise any mebers though that intend to buy a suit from them that they are an excellent company, and of all the people there the person I would advise to deal with would be Mr. Alan Alexander. He does not travel to America so for those who wish to undertake there fittings there I would suggest that either Mr. Philip Parker or Mr. Alex Cook the 2 cutters that travel to the states would be a better choice, as it is not good practice to have more than one person fitting a suit in its creation, and equally the person doing the fitting should also be the person carrying out the work on the garments.

HS, I am still working in the trade, though as members of this site may have noticed, I endeavour to let my work talk, as there have been many grand claims over recent years by artisans, who may or maynot have lived up to there claims. It is really only in the process of doing that your reputation should be developed. I think that to say one specialises within such a small field suggests a lack of confidence or ability in other areas of the trade, and as such suggests an incomplete knowledge of ones craft.
I am sorry if the response seems a little vague, but it is honest.

In March last year you expressed an interest in viewing images of HM George V and HM Queen Mary. I apologise for the length of time it has taken to respond. As I don't have a scanner I merely took a few shots with a digital camera. One day I will have the album properly scanned in order that these images can be properly shared.

My grandfather is positioned next to the queen in both images. Please let me know if you would like to view the rest of the album.

They were taken at Windsor Castle during the Australian XI's tour in 1934. They form part of a leather bound album commemorating the Tour. Frontespiece is complete with the signatures of all members of the team.

Sator would do unspeakable things to acquire a pair of the button boots that George is wearing! I think he was a very natty dresser.

Sir, I am so happy to see the two photographs that you have kindly generously provided and shall be most privileged to see the rest of what must be a very interesting album. Pics of His Majesty are so rare to come by, and even more so in the case of Her Majesty.

It is interesting to note none of the gentlemen wore morning dress.

I apologise for not responding much earlier as the stock markets have been rather active the past few months plus my fondness for watching the current Olympiad events.
