Saville Row Tailors

Gentlemen,
I Know tht this question will prompt a torrent of replies (all of which will be gratefully recieved), But which of the traditional tailors of Saville Row bo the members find best?
My family have traditionally gone with Geives & Hawkes, (having as thy do a long history of British Military service), but in recent years I have found them to commercialised for my tastes. Could anyone reccomend a more traditionalist tailor to ally myself to?

G&H are at One Savile Row. You could take a stroll up and down the Row next time you're there to gather some impressions.

What do you wish to retain from the G&H experience? Is it the basic house style, the sense of being cossetted in a nice townhouse, the prices?

Welsh & Jefferies still has strong links to the military - being Prince Charles' military tailor - and make structured suits, as, I believe, G&H does. Malcolm Plews, one of the two cutters at W&J, makes absolutely beautiful, and beautifully made, suits.

I would heartily agree with Welsh and Jefferies. Discreet, personal, quality service and Plews is a master.

Meyer & Mortimer/Jones Chalk & Dawson/Ward & Kruger (three names, one firm), 6 Sackville Street, military tailors (usually quite a few uniforms hanging in the shop), very traditional, old fashioned premises, very conscientious, reasonable prices. Why not give them a try?

I wouldn't be too put off by the fact that G&H are now more commercialised. Their bespoke operation is entirely separate and in my experience the product and service is still first rate. Their head cutter has been at the firm for 22 years, prior to which he was at John Kent.

I'd be interested to know who at G&H your family have used and how they rate him/her. I'd be happy to exchange PMs if you'd prefer.
