Rubinacci Ties
Any comments on Mariano's neckwear?
Beautiful silks. There is a seleciton of shiny satins and more understated wovens. They are generally unlined and tie a very small knot. There is also a bespoke service. Not inexpensive.
In my opinion Rubinacci' s ties are among the most beautiful ties to wear; it is not possible to understand immediately the quality of their artisan handcrafting as well the peculiarity of their shape and design. Mariano has started again now in manufacturing ties according to the same criteria used in his Naples Via Filangieri Premise more than half century ago.Indeed they are generally unlined and give a very small knot as the diameter of the anterior tie leg is around 8 cm and no > 8.5 cm . In my opinion they represent the arrival and not the starting point along a gentleman's journey in the world of elegance, and need a superior good taste to be loved, differently from Marinella' s ties that are much more easily appreciated. A sophisticated connoisseur will distinguish them among all the others.

I purchased this one on eBay (retail Rubinacci is far too rich for my budget ). I don't usually go for bolder geometrics, but...this tie "spoke" to me.
I picked mine up at the shop in London. To be candid, I have yet to work them into my rotation.
They seemed too thin to me, too narrow, and the knots much too small. All of this can be changed by going bespoke, but the price was extremely high.
Thanks for the advice guys.
Beautiful, elegant and softly spoken ties. My favourites in London at the moment.
Very, very nice silks, but 95% of them are in horrible designs. The styling is very subjective, but everyone would agree they use very nice silks.
Well said. They are very much like everything else that Rubinacci offers. That is to say that they are individual, imperfect and in sublime taste. They are also particularly personal as far as ties go, and will be loved or hated by the consumer, but rarely just liked.angelo wrote:In my opinion Rubinacci' s ties are among the most beautiful ties to wear; it is not possible to understand immediately the quality of their artisan handcrafting as well the peculiarity of their shape and design. At first I was dissapointed with the small knots but have somewhat solved my dilemma by using a double four-in-the-hand. The ties display such a lovely dimple with little to no effort. As with many posters I've found some of their silks a little too unconventional. I'll share some photos of my current collection to allow those who have not experienced them to understand what I mean.

I am not often in a position to add anything of value to this wondeful forum. I can say, however, without equivocation that the three Rubinacci ties I bought last summer in the London shop are among the most prized jewels of my wardrobe. The lustre is unmatched, the designs are simple and unique and the workmanship special as I know somewhere in Italy a real person made this for me.! I am a devotee now and suspect I shan't buy many ties in future other than theirs. Just another reason to return to London. Until I discovered (thanks to this list BTW) Rubinacci I had been buying Zegna, Armani, Brioni and Canali, so those are my basis for comparison.
Stefania Mocci in the London shop is the perfect representative for the company. Very welcoming, full of good suggestions but never even a bit overzealous in her approach.

There are now a couple of dozen designs on sale at the Carlyle in NYC--at the Concierge's desk. They were originally only in a black/grey "palette" (an oxymoron), apparantly, an attempt at cross marketing (Carlyle "colors"), which failed. So, they now have a more diverse selection of RTW. Certainly pleasant, substantially geometric.
