The shape of peak lapels

I've noticed that on some peak lapel suits the lapels tend to curve ever so slightly outward, away from the center (which I like), whereas others may tend to curve outward (think shawl collar, though it's a much exagerated reference).

Is there a term to describe these respective shapings? Are they consciously achieved or is this more of a random phenomenon?

I'm not aware of any specific names, for these peak variations. I have observed the differences in configuration, however. Here's an interesting take, on the 'peak' lapel.

You mean belly? That can be done on peak or shawl.

Belly is a convex curve to the outer edge of a lapel.

oh, I see . . . have seen 'belly' on Saint Laurent tuxedo jackets for women, as well . . .

Somewhere iammat posted pic of himself modelling a vintage Rubinacci DJ. The lapels on that jacket had a lot of belly.

Yes, I've seen the 'big belly,' lapels. Thank you for explaining. My sister got a kick out of knowing that her tux, has a belly cut.
