Yesterday, a friend of mine told me that there "is no letter K" in the Italian alphabet.
Is this true? If so, is Kiton a name of different nationality?
Kiton--Italian?
It's Greek.
There is no "k" in the pure Italian alphabet, although the letter is used when pronouncing foreign words. Click here if you would like to know how "kappa" is pronounced in the "foreign" word "Kiwi".kirsch wrote:Yesterday, a friend of mine told me that there "is no letter K" in the Italian alphabet.

You would spell that phoneme as ch in Italian, yet if you were to spell the brand as Chiton, you would no doubt confuse Anglo-Saxon clients.
Incidentally, a Kiton maker should make shirts, not jackets, the proper Greek word for which is Himation. [Cfr. Matthew 5:40, famous passage about being sued for one's shirt (Kiton) and volunteering one's outer garment (Himation).]
