The model I used to describe the style to Paul was a Vass 3-eyelet derby, and the quarter seam extends far back on those models. I rather wanted this feature on this shoe to make it sleeker as I have short, wide feet. I don't think that doing the same thing on a half-brogue is a bug - just a matter of personal preference.
I'm much happier with the way the toe-shape turned out in this order than in my adelaide half-brogues, which I found to be rather bulbous.
Re: Laces - I didn't notice it until your post but my half-brogues have the tightly woven style as well.

I like the swept-back look on a derby with V-shaped quarters like yours, and I agree that it makes for a sleeker shoe.mpolanthan wrote:The model I used to describe the style to Paul was a Vass 3-eyelet derby, and the quarter seam extends far back on those models.
