As the mature Churchill is supposed to have responded to an inquiry by a new hairdresser:

"A man of my limited resources cannot presume to have a hairstyle. Just cut it!"

Your parents are right about the good grooming of the hair is just as important as taking care of your shoes.

Now something to take into consideration with one's hair is how it grows naturally such as straight, curly, wavy etc. Also some people have dryer hair, and some have more natural oils in them too.

You might want to consult with a good barber about what products works best with your hair and what styles look good on you.

As for styles, Cary Grant had a very nice style and I used to comb my hair like that but as I've gotten older my hair seems to work better being combed back.

As for use to hold my hair in place, after my shower and towel dry I use a small amount of Vitalis hair tonic. It works well and doesn't have a glossy look but a natural look.

Best Regards,

My bone comb parts the hairs neatly, the boar bristle hairbrush shapes them, massages my scalp and helps the natural oils do their job, while the glycerine-based hair cream provides nutrition and moderate fixation without a wet look.
