High Armholes
How much wiggle room does one have in lowering the armholes of a coat without affecting the house style? For instance, I like everything about A&S with the exception of the high armholes. Yes, I’ve owned a coat with high armholes since the mid 80s and despite what some say, have never become accustomed to it. I’d like to have A&S make an odd coat and trousers or a suit when they make my polo coat. I’d like to lower the armholes for a more comfortable fit without either affecting the house style, which I like, or being thrown out on my ear, which I wouldn’t like. Is it possible and how much is too much? And this brings up another question; are their overcoats also made with high armholes or is that detail a function of the style of overcoat?
I thought A&S high and narrow armholes are made for the exact purpose of extra comfort and assistance in natural movement during the day !...?

Lance,
The circumference of the armhole has more to do with fit than style or house style. Most bespoke tailors cut a high, egg shaped armhole, but it has to FIT you. Ask your tailors to give you some more room and they will accommodate you.
