Illustration of the week #11: Blue gray and white

I had the good fortune to pick up my light blue Brisa suit the other day. During the same visit to the tailors I found 2 pairs of white linen trousers also ready for this summer. While trying on the linens, I had the Brisa jacket on and the combination was quite attractive.

The look was something like this:



Manton has recently written about light grays and white. Blue grays and white seem to look even better!

The first, and most obvious, request is that you post a photograph of yourself wearing this outfit. Is the illustrated DB the same style as your Brisa coat?

The second is on the style of the white linen trousers - where is the linen from, is it pure white, what style are they?
I'm on the brink of ordering a pair of casual cotton trousers from a tailor, but can't quite settle on either the pattern, or the colour, so any advice will be gratefully received.

Is the illustrated DB the same style as your Brisa coat?

The first coat came through as an SB but a DB akin to the one in the illustration is in the works. (Photos to follow later this summer.)

The linen in question is weighty stuff from a mill that no longer exists. It was sold as a “light grey” though it is so light a shade of grey as to be white. The two trousers were made to be worn with braces, they are fully cut, with DAKs style button waist, forward pleats etc. The 2 trousers are part of an SB suit. (Always order two trousers when you make a suit.)

I find a full cut to be a necessity for summer trousers. There is nothing worse than strangling, cloying, hip huggers in warm weather. With the DAKs style, you can actually wear the trousers with or without braces and this is also very practical for summer, as you may often be going without a coat.
