I am considering the purchase of a leather attache case (ready made). But from whom?

The choice seems to be coming down to: Swaine Adeney, Foster & Sons, or Pickett. They all have products that seem to be of good quality and at around the same price. Any views? Have I missed any other firms I should consider? (Mr. Cleverley's 200 year old reindeer hide might be a little extravagant). The case will be used frequently so it should be of robust construction, wear well and be repairable (including the locks).

Yes, GOYARD http://www.goyard.fr/goyard.html

The Duke of Windsor had a set of luggage made by Goyard. It is beautiful.

Not quite my cup of tea. English bridle leather is more my thing. The dog collar is a hoot though - I hope that's what it is!

Maybe the The Duke of Windsor's set of luggage was their last reasonable commission.

I saw this and thought it looked wonderful. The Bill Amberg Rocket bag. I don't know anything about the maker:

Hermes.

The book "Deluxe: How Luxury Lost its Luster" by Dana Thomas has an inside look at the integrity of process and materials with which Hermes makes its leather (and other - perfumes, silk) goods.

Treat yourself to an extravagance in these hard times.

What else can we do as the financial world collapses around us?!

JL makes wallets for Hermes? That would be news to me. Word on the street was that a French company named Beynat & Janniaux made leathergoods for John Lobb Paris. Hermes generally makes its own leathergoods.

Yes, sorry, I think I may have got that the wrong way around

I looked at a wallet in JL and it had a Hermes label inside it. I can't now quite remember the explanation but there is obviously some connection!

I have just taken delivery of my Papworth attache case in London Tan bridle leather - superb! Exactly as you say, Swaine Adeney at much reduced prices. Would love to make it to the factory shop some time! Thanks for the advice.
