up market underwear
I have always subscribed to the dictum of buying the best in the clothes that I wear, because in the long run, it will last longer and always looks more elegant.
But my question is, when it comes to Boxer shorts ( the ones that I prefer) is buying the more expensive brands, that I see on line from London and Paris, any better than the ones I buy a Brooks Brothers or Nordstoms? There seems to be a big difference in price and so as far as boxer shorts are concerned, is that price difference worth it?
many thanks

I don't know if the price difference is justified, but it is certainly worth ensuring that we wear comfortable boxers.
Did you try to have your shirtmaker make you a pair or two?

I did once balloon-seated and very roomy in blue linen but, frankly, not worth the extra and I just get them in the sales!!Costi wrote:I don't know if the price difference is justified, but it is certainly worth ensuring that we wear comfortable boxers.

I will spare the others the details of why,
but I am a fan of Zimmerli.
Buy one pair and judge for yourself is the best advice I can offer.

Will, I believe that Derek Rose makes the boxer shorts for the Jermyn Street shirtmakers (such as H&K and H&H) in two fold cotton cloths.
I've said this here before, but Bel y Cia in Barcelona make the best RTW boxers I've ever worn.
I'd like to subscribe to the Zimmerli side as well - it's a personal choice, but I'm feeling more comfortable in them than in anything else (now that there's little left of "anything else")
About the only thing I buy from Patagonia anymore are their Boxers made of capeline. Very colorful, very comfortable, long lasting, and they feel like silk.

Try Gieves & Hawkes. Very comfortable and excellent value in the summer sale.

Why would anybody buy underwear from a shirtmaker?
What next, shoes from a tailor?
Try Sunspel.

Some people like to match their shirt with the underwear. Stripes, checks, and colors etc.

Well, if you're in the market for boxers, you will probably be able to find much higher-quality cloths for the price than most RTW makers use, since shirtmakers can make use of offcuts from their shirting customers.SIYBIN wrote:Why would anybody buy underwear from a shirtmaker?

And, since Brooks Brothers outsourced to China, there are no decent-fitting French-backed boxers to be found massmade.
