Every single pair of trousers that I've bought (off the rail) has worn through in exactly the same place, the very top of the inside leg (left then right), after only a few months wear.
Firstly, does anyone know why this might be? Some strange assymetry in my body or gait? Secondly, would a bespoke pair of trousers solve this problem either by offering a better fit or by using better materials and expert skill in the making.
I wouldn't really want to spend a large amount on a bespoke suit and then find that I was wearing it out quickly . . .
Trouser fitting
This is usually caused by one's gait. There is not too much to do about it. Do you rotate your trousers enough? If you do not let them rest at least three days or so between wearings, they will wear even faster.
Are the trousers lined? I would suggest unlined trousers.
Bespoke trousers will be a benefit in the sense that you can choose some sturdy cloth that will resist wear better than what the off the peg shops offer you.
Avoid flannel at all costs. Prefer heavyweight worsteds for winter. Frescos and heavyweight linens should be OK for Spring and Summer as they are quite resistant.
