There has been some discussion in various threads about the amount of vintage fabric left at London House and its availability. I spent the last week in Naples, and one of the great pleasures that I had was the opportunity to go into the offsite safe (literally a bank vault) where they keep the vintage fabrics that they have stored up.
The room is the size of a restaurant's walk in refridgerator and is stacked from top to bottom with vintage fabrics that have belonged to the store for years or were bought from London tailors and distributors when they went out of business. The fabrics range from the truly awful to the amazing. There is a lot of really great old shetland left, including some very classic designs. There are also a lot of plaids for sportcoats that have a pattern scale that is no longer seen. Finally, there appeared to be a lot of vintage linen available, but I was much more interested in looking at the woolens while I was there. The only real downside is that you can stumble across something great only to realize that very little of it remains.
Rubinacci's stores each have a small selection of the vintage fabrics on display. Obviously, all of them are there to be ordered and made up. I do not know if they ever sell the fabrics alone, but I would assume not.

If jealousy is a sin, you have used your last few posts to furnish my room in hell.
