Greetings.

Michael Blackwell at New and Lingwood has made a couple of shirts for me and I'm thinking about a couple more. The fit has been dialing in quite nicely but I'd enjoy some input on the solution to one issue - the "elbow to elbow" fit. I need some input because I'm going to miss N&L on their next US visit and I'm not in the UK for a while. If there is some consensus on a solution, I might pull the trigger from a far.

Here's the issue. The shirts are fairly slim, close armholes and across the shoulder. Standing and walking the shirt fits perfectly. Extend my arms as when driving and the shirting just starts to bind under the arms and across the back and tighten across the shoulder. I'd like the shirt "opened" a bit so I don't feel the constraint in this normal range of motion.

Is the solution to add an inch across the chest and/or open the arm hole a bit so that there is some fabric to take the motion when my arms extend out?

Best,
DDM

I experience the same problem.

Plus the shirt cuff rides up alot when driving or shooting.

I think the solution is indeed to add more cloth where needed and to make the elbow wider.
