With deep sadness, Martin Greenfield has passed away at the age of 95. He founded Martin Greenfield Clothiers
The New York Times ran a front page obituary today. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/20/fash ... -dead.html There have been other obituaries, such as The Wall Street Journal.
Holocaust survivor. Lost his parents and siblings. The sole survivor. Came to the USA with $10 in his pocket. Worked his way-up in the GGG Clothing factory from a "floor boy" to owning the factory. Clothier to presidents, captains of industry, and celebrities.
He wrote a memoir, "The Measure of a Man." I commend it. It is a chronicle of his lost youth and family and the horror of the Holocaust, but ultimately it is a story of triumph and love letter to America and humanity.
He was a great tailor and a great man and friend. I was honored to have him his as a tailor, friend, and client.
May his memory be a blessing.
