My better half and I are going to Southern California (flying into LA) for a 2 week holiday from late March to early April. Since I know many members are well familiar with this area I thought I’d ask for some pointers on what to see / do. Currently on the agenda is at least finding nice desert resort spa (thinking Palm Springs or surrounding area) to get some suntime in by a pool (as I realise the beach will be a bit cold at this time of year), so any recommendations in that regard would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
BB

Not quite Palm Springs, but if you're near Pasadena, consider dropping by the Gamble House.

Is there any point packing a blazer and some nice linen trousers for a 2 week holiday in SoCal? Or it solely shorts and flip flop territory now?

Probably neighborhood-specific. But you'll need a blazer to carry your plane tickets, and long trousers shouldn't ever be a problem.
