Is there any room for peak lapels in a single breasted coat or suit or blazer?
I recall somewhere Alden wrote years ago that peak lapels were for band leaders and that social commentary has scarred me ever since.

…still, I am not so sure.

Dear Uppercase,

rules are there to be broken 8)

I perceive peak lapels as "seeking for attention" on SB coating. I could imagine making something up on a very quiet cloth, such as a grey flannel may be. But there is no such thing in my wardrobe so far. I prefer the cloth to speak for itself and keeping design details at a minimum.

Cheers, David

I have an SB peak lapelled dinner jacket. That works very well, but not sure about the idea on something less formal.

Dear Uppercase

Old Henry did a SB, one-button peak lapel for Antony Bourdain in LL grey flannel by Fox. I think it looks marvellous, even though I'm normally not in the single button camp.

But with Mr. Bourdain's frame, tall and slim but not narrow shouldered, it works really well to my eyes.

Peaks are pretty common on SB suits these days. I don't see this as any major statement or fashion. I see them more with pinstripes than anything else.

Yes, but little.
I think it can be done nicely if you're tall and slim or if you lower the fastening button to provide room for longer lapels.
