Tom Pendry will show visitors the process of creating a paper pattern prior to cutting the cloth in preparation for making a suit, as well as opening up Henry Poole’s pattern books to demonstrate the various types of cloth available.”

Paint attack on Savile Row shop

A SAVILE ROW tailor has had £70,000 worth of outfits destroyed with paint by a vandal.
William Hunt said a man wielding an iron bar smashed a window at the shop after threatening his staff and spraying clothes with red paint. He claimed the man had stalked him for eight years.
The 55-year-old, who makes cloths for David Beckham, Tom Cruise and Cristiano Ronaldo, said he has four restraining orders against the man.
A man is due to appear at Southwark crown court charged with criminal damage and affray.

Sound and Fury at the Army and Navy

A SKIRMISH last night at the Army and Navy Club in St James's Square, where historians Dan Snow and his father Peter were talking about the Battle of Waterloo, the subject of their new book.
Only a few seconds into their double act -- Peter was taking the role of the Emperor Napoleon and son Dan the Duke of Wellington -- one member in a blue blazer and regimental red trousers shouted "It's absolute crap" and stormed out. It seems he was enraged when Dan made a joke about Napoleon being of advanced years so it was "appropriate" Peter played him.
Napoleon was only 45 -- and Wellington was 46. Did the chap in the eighth row think they were being flip with the facts or a bit ageist?
