Toni Servillo & "La Grande Bellezza"

Now that the movie has been playing a while in the U.S. (as "The Great Beauty"), I thought I'd post a pointer to it for those who haven't seen it, and remark that Toni Servillo seems to be becoming a candidate for a contemporary style icon in the sense that this section of the forum has explored the word 'style.' In this film, apart from a few (only about half, oddly) unfortunately large tie knots, he's about as well dressed (almost exclusively in linen) as anyone I've seen on screen in years. Well dressed in that the clothes are well cut, well chosen, and worn with complete ease. I don't think he dresses quite so uniformly well off-screen, but certainly maintains a unique sense of presence. Movie's not bad, either.

Addendum 1: I've posted a few of the available stills in the "Great Photos" section.

Addendum 2: The cut is obviously Neapolitan, and apparently the Cesare Attolini atelier was responsible for all the clothes, including Servillo's semi-formal dress for the awards. Don't know whether they gave him true bespoke or merely tailored the handmade RTW pieces. Some of the trousers are a bit narrow at the bottom; others not.

In the film, there is at least one scene where the top-stitching on his jacket's spalla camicia is visible; none of the stills I posted seem to have this construction.

Toni Servillo is playing a character and judging from other Paolo Sorrentino's movies, it seems he does not carry through them such a permanent powerful "self grown style" as to become an icon.
He is well dressed in "La Grande Bellezza" for the part, where he plays some kind of idle playboy lounging in linen and sporting strident jackets with pocket squares. But while Rome might, he's not going to provoke any Stendhal syndrome.
And yes, the film is not bad at all

I liked Servillo in La Grande Bellezza, but I loved him in Viva la Libertà - some wonderful Italian conservative style.
