Not the pocket square handkerchief but the other one

Excuse me gentlemen but this is an important topic too. As I have only found reference to the other one on the forum, I ask: what's a good handkerchief to use well... as a handkerchief?

Also, what is good material for it? As I see that linen is preferred for the pocket square.

From a hygiene POV, the larger format paper tissues can't be beaten. If you really do want to add to the laundry pile, plain cotton handkerchiefs can be had at a very reasonable price from Hilditch & Key's shop in Princes Arcade (£25 for 10 or somesuch). They used to stock extra large - but no longer.

One of my earlier school memories at age 6 was the weekly laundry issue of pyjamas, underwear (x2), socks (x2 prs) and handkerchief - all with a Cash's nametape sewn in. At the end of the week, the intended purpose of the hankie had usually been bypassed by the availability of flannel shirtsleeves, the handkerchief being reserved for emergency blotting paper, penknife cleaning, knee-scrape bandage (we were in short trousers of course) and mealtime spill-saver. Im sure the accumulated grime / germ culture has inoculated me for life!

Thank you for the input.

I have found this on their site: http://www.hilditchandkey.co.uk/Accesso ... ately.aspx
but it doesn't say if it is organic or not; probably not.

According to this: you should opt for the organic one: http://www.rodale.com/handkerchief-and-recycled-tissues

Yeah, I'm just bored with all the paper residuals in my pocket. I have to research the health issues more, though.

My choice is plain white cotton, neatly ironed and folded. The most important thing is to always have one so that you will never miss an opportunity to give it to a woman who has to fix her mascara, cry or wants a blindfold. Anyone who doubts this advice need only consider the beautiful Jennifer Lopez as she praises Richard Gere in the film, "Shall We Dance". And to any young Loungers who chide me for watching a chick flick, I confess. Now observe and learn.

Just to note that the Richard Gere/Jennifer Lopez version is a remake of the even more touching Japanese original that came out in 1996. If you don't know it, do see it.

Yes have both. Keep the tissue for yourself and offer the cotton to Jennifer.

Sadly, I don't have time to watch the movie but I'd like to see the relevant short clip from it from YouTube. Or from the Japanese version.

Same for me here. I feel something is terribly amiss on the rare occasions I forget to keep one on my trousers left pocket.

White linen, generously sized (45x45 cm), handrolled edges. Fresh one every day. They last forever... and a day.
Dab your hands with it after splashing your cologne in the morning. That's very organic
