Thank you for clearifying. As of right now, the machine is fine for my current projects, although I would like to eventually look in to buying a Singer 491 or juki.

T4phage, those machines look lovely. Were they still in use by the shop?

Yes, 491's are my preferred machine and what we use in the studio. After that (the 591) is when Singer really started going for ridiculous speeds and the stitch went all to hell.
