Is yours cut to wear over a sweater, or a jacket?

Over a sweater. I think of these 3/4 coats as I would a tweed sports coat.

I reserve my longer coats for wear with jackets and suits.

About the buttons, I would reconsider. I know I cannot trust my computer screen, but I think a matt horn would be better. Now I know this is a challenge in Italy where all horn buttons have this glossy finish...

MOP buttons were commonly used on camel colored OCs and especially Polo coats as seen in this illustration

Most times, I manage to stay Zen, walk away with it and see how it feels after a while. Some perceived mishaps are actually turning out to be good solutions. It's all part of the game and offers entertainment

I have some MOP on suitings, on the Eden in Paris flannel and a tweed which is in the works. Yet, I still think matte horn does a better job...
