Waistcoats. The Long View.

I went to Brands Hatch at the weekend to watch some international motor racing. There was a gentleman of Italian appearance wearing a cream linen shirt and cream linen trousers... Over the shirt he wore a long gillet/waistcoat in navy 'suit material.'

It came down below his waist, although it narrowed at this point before billowing back out. It had large front and side pockets like in the second picture in this thread and it looked exceptional.
