Suggestions for Rome

One of the scourges of internet forums are merchants or their sales agents masquerading as members who post ads or create franchises to publicize their client’s goods. That activity is strictly monitored on the LL to insure that members are not inconvenienced.

Real posts by real members that recount actual personal experiences without an agenda represent the value and service the LL brings to its membership. It can happen that an honest review from an LL member is edited in error. I apologize in advance if this is ever the case. But it is a small price to pay for a clear environment.

With regards to your question, I do not think posting a list of a dozen names of tailors without commentary is offensive to anyone especially as this information can be found in an unlikely sartorial source, the yellow pages.

For those willing to cast a wider net for sartorial items when in Rome, may I recommend the ties and handkerchiefs by Talarico, at via dei Coronari, 51 (http://www.talaricocravatte.it/index_eng.html). In my view, his ties are full of character and dress beautifully. His peculiar touch is the handmade yellow stitching in the back.

Since this thread has been resucitated, I will add a very special recommendation for those who would need some custom hand made small leather article (like a credit card wallet with eleven slots, a men's shoulder strap bag in an unusual size or shape, or a smartphone or pocket book cover with your initials).
