For the first time in ages, it seems I may have to search for a fabric beyond the Cloth Club’s offerings as am very keen on getting a navy birdseye suit made up. Would any members have a good rec?

Thanks.

Can't go wrong with the Escorial blue Birdseye from Kemp & Hewitt. It's my go-to bunch.
If you live in the UK, then you'll have to find out the agent. This is a 9oz cloth. Heavier I would get from Lesser

Brilliant, thank you, Leonard. Couldn’t ask for a more informed rec. Have asked Kemp & Hewitt and your Escorial rec led me a 11 oz birdseye one from Standeven so hope will have some swatches to compare soon. 🙏

I have one in 13oz Golden Bale which is still in the prime of life. The Lesser 10oz 120s is OK, but will be a bit floppier.

Take a look at the Navy Blue Nailhead we did a few years ago in LL worsted. We could easily make the same in a birdseye. And that would save you the risk of fishing about for pot luck in the Books.

Michael as always I’d much rather not risk it and get a LL cloth, not to mention the mix of blues used in the DD nailhead would be exactly what I’d hope for in a birdseye. Just wondering, would a similar navy birdseye be possible in the Mare quality as well? From how you’ve described Mare, that would be my ideal but please count me in for whichever quality has the best chance of getting a subscription going.

DD worsted is a beauty as navy blue nailhead, and so it would be as a Birdseye. This is a Rolls Royce in cloth.

Cheers, David
