Gentlemen,
Today I stumbled upon an interesting article: http://www.hawesandcurtis.com/about_us_and_shirts.asp
As far as I know, today H&C is just a shadow of its former glory, but they certainly had glorious days...

An interesting historical information from Hawes & Curti
I fear today's Hawes & Curtis is not so much a shadow of its former self, but a mere (and rather poor) imitation. Until two or so years ago, it did not exist. Then somebody had the clever idea to use this long defunct name for another "me-too" competitor to the ubiquitous pseudo Jermyn Street shirts typified by Pink. I recall that H&C are the difusion range of Turnbull & Asser's owners, but I may be wrong.
Alas, for a revival of Jermyn Street as a world leader in bespoke shirts, this will not do. But that topic has been bemoaned often enough not be repeated again.

There should be a law protecting the reputations of genuine Jermyn Street shirtmakers & Savile Row tailors; someway of stopping people from trading off the street names, maybe an industry standard grade like hotels have. The system could be extended nationallt & cover Bespoke, M-T-M and R-T-W.
