Fellow LLoungers, after much humming and hawing I’ve finally come to the conclusion that the best way to test a concept is to try it out and scoffers be damn’d.
I’ve] written before https://www.thelondonlounge.net/forum/v ... 33&t=11999 about organising occasional festivities with something of a sartorial flavour (besides excellent food, drink and company, of course).
Allow me, therefore, to submit for your consideration:
THE GREY-FLANNEL GOURMAND (luncheon)
Date: Friday, 18 October 2019
Time: from 12:30 p.m.
Place: Margot https://www.margotrestaurant.com/about, in Covent Garden, London
Followed by: a restorative amble of the interesting vicinity, guided by yours truly, possibly cigars, likely a ‘sharpener’ before dispersing into the mid-Autumn evening.
Suggested sartorial theme: one’s favourite flannel suit or spezzato
The general idea is for attendees to take part or all of that day off from dreary professional obligations and therefore enjoy a lazily long and delicious lunch.
The Grey Flannel Gourmand
Even the tiniest hint of Indian summer will make that a difficult climate for flannel. Humidity in London adds about 20F to the recorded temperature, at least until November pushes things below 60 for real.
A valid point to raise, Thanks, Concordia.
On-line data: "On October 18, the temperature in London typically ranges from 52°F to 58°F and is rarely below 43°F or above 65°F."
That would, on reflection, be warm for many (myself included) to wear flannel for much of the day.
Perhaps we should change that to "The Lounge-suit Luncheon", thus providing scope for less heat-stroke prone finery?

I would, calendar permitting, love to join.

Thanks for pointing that out, David.
I'm still up for it, if other LL members are interested.
