I agree with the Kiehl's, I just did not like the method of dispensing the goop (it has to be scooped like ice cream).

I'm a big fan of Taylors -- their product, value and warm service are all excellent. I generally use the Sandalwood. I do have some DR Harris Arlington which is quite nice. I've used Trumpers products in the past, although not the shave cream, and just haven't had the best experience with them, so I have no desire to try their shave products. Kiehls Close Shavers stuff is quite good too.

I'm trying DR Harris' Almond shaving cream. It produces a rich foam that retains sufficient moisture and has an aromatic, subtle scent. Results are more satisfying than Trumper's Rose shaving cream.

I'm so glad you like it - I was buying cigars in Toronto (Winston & Holmes, now sadly gone I think) in my teens and the tabacconist had a DR Harris display. I walked out with a mahogany bowl of almond soap and silver tip brush. The Cohiba Esplendidos are a distant memory while the bowl and brush are still going strong...

Don't know if it counts as a "cream," properly speaking, but I have been using Caswell-Massey's shaving soap in sandalwood since I got into "luxe" shaving about 2 1/2 years ago. Vasty prefer to it to any aerosol I ever tried!

I've tried Trumpers soaps in the past but for the last 8 years or so it's been Taylor's creams. I'm especially fond of Eton College.

For a change, I am now using Cyril Salter's Vetiver cream. It doesn't give as close a shave as the Taylor's and it doesn't seem to rinse as cleanly. That said I have to believe the efficacy of soaps and creams has a lot to do with the other essential ingredient in their use - water - the acidity/alkalinity, mineral content and so on.

I have fond that a 50/50 mix of Trumpers Sandalwood and Proraso Eucalyptus shave cream mix up to a wonderful rich lather that a has a pleasing scent and an invigorating freshness

I could not take the time to read the whole post, so somebody else may already have mentioned it, but I simply cannot miss the opportunity to praise Truefitt & Hill's West Indian Limes shaving cream in a jar. Fabulous lather, rich and onctuous - plus a very subtle, invigorating fragrance.

My favorite shaving creams are: Trumpers Coconut; Trumpers Violet; D.R. Harris Almond and Taylor’s Avocado.
My favorite soaps are Boellis Almond and D.R. Harris Almond.

I'm very loyal now to D.R. Harris Almond. I have had very uneven experiences with Kiehl's products and no longer offer a blanket recommendation.
