I have always been happy with Marcoliani and Sozzi are serving me well lately.

I’m also partial to the Japanese brand Tabio, which are very good indeed. They’re overpriced through their international websites but are only about $12 - $15 a pair in Japan.

Yes, but at as the decades go by, the elastic starts to degrade.

The ones I have on now have got holes in (Budd birdseye pattern). There is nothing for it - think I shall have to purchase a darning needle.

not a bad idea actually. not more expensive than buying new pairs on and off and meanwhile 365 pairs to chose from

The idea is to get many identical pairs, then it resolves the issue of having to sort and match them.

I went through a phase of sock collection. I now have a better understanding of what lasts.

• Pantherella whilst comfortable and very well marketed will fall apart soon.
• Falke last a little longer, it was usually the toe or side that would wear out after a while
• Happy socks more on the quirky/fun side. Sadly, my first batch in the didn't last long. However the quality has improved over time (I have some later pairs that are 2 years old) and there are some patterns that are more subdued than the norm.
• Uniqlo good socks, my go-to socks during winter are the Heat tech variant, very much recommended
• Finisterre thoroughly recommend the 'Last Long original wool socks', these do the name justice and are very comfortable.

I will second Pantherella and Uniqlo as my go-to options, and have recently added Viccel which are really good so far. For this winter I've also added some cheap wool and cashmere socks I bought from a non-descript Etsy shop, great to wear underneath other more stylish ones. I tend to suffer from cold feet, so anything that keeps me warm and looks decent I'll go for!

I wear only navy Bresciani linen socks.

How long they last seems to be very dependent on how they are washed.

Gammarelli are pretty good too.

I could be wrong but I do not believe 100% natural fabrics will last as long as synthetic blends.
