There are few ways one can add variety to a tailcoat these days outside of club and uniform coats.
Note that having a white lining on the tails (only) is seen on various of court dress tailcoats and uniforms, so it isn't outside the scope of tradition.

USA Uniform Coat worn at French Court, 1840. Moiré lining.
I once saw an early-music conductor— Trevor Pinnock, perhaps— wear tails with a bright silk lining. Scarlet, or purple, maybe. Not the best choice for your only pair, but if you wear them every week...
