I tried Nolet's and it has a slight medicinal aftertaste, or is it strong botanicals? It does not have the overpowering juniper that defines most average gins at least.

I would describe the taste as "fruity, floral, different". Beautiful in a martini.

If anyone is at a loose end in West London of an evening I can commend a visit to the The Ginstitute in Portobello Road. After a short history of gin and gin drinking over a couple of cocktails you get to sample lots (and lots) of various botanicals and finally blend your own mix. I went for a brew heavy with white pepper and lapsang souchong. It's perfect neat over ice.

Yes on the Coral! Lovely place and good selection. I will however have to pass on the black tie as I lack the proper elements for such attire :)

We could make it 'cocktail dress' which is comprehensive of black tie and 'serious' suit.

Any ideas abt dates, ladies/gents?

Defying 'dry January' with a dry... Martini!
