Lately seen again - and struck by the supreme efforts of the wardrobe dept.. (Bogey's collar esp.)

I think Bogey and the other actors wore their own clothes as it was custom in the old days. According to some contracts I have seen they had to provide their own wardrobe.

I didn't know that - very interesting. I'd rather imagined that a perk of the acting trade would be the chance to swan off with some very handy surplus schmutter - (maybe Michael can advise?).

Very nice if you've been cast in some stylish drama. Less so if you are a walk-on extra in Game of Thrones maybe.

Judging by the range of photos from Bogart's later career, he had a huge wardrobe of very well cut clothes - and he wore them beautifully.
