"He had that supreme elegance of being, quite simply, what he was."

-C. Albaret describing Marcel Proust

I caught this on the flight back from London on Sunday. Quite a good portrait with considerable emphasis on Agnelli's personal style. A complex man with a bittersweet life. Worth a look.

Saw it on flight back from Madrid. Major takeaway: a good suntan goes a long way in enhancing stylish appearance.

A stylish man to be sure. Yet, I rarely read anything about him that I do not pity. The clip says as much, "obsessed with aesthetics". He had and did not recognize some of the blessings of life that no bespoke suit can substitute. The richest man in Italy was indifferent to his own children and had no relationship with them. What could be more sad? No, not the richest man in Italy, the poorest.

Oddly, one of the movies I watched outbound was "All the Money in the World", based on the Getty kidnap and refusal of JP to pay the ransom.
