Just read this, https://www.drapersonline.com/news/tail ... 55.article

Any members with more knowledge of what happened? Does this cover the bespoke part too or only the MTM?

Everything I have seen these people do has been very very nice. Sad to see this.

Indeed. There is living proof in my closet. I have a Brisa coat in the works...

Isn't it a bit of a sad story of a talented guy who has an ambition to go on and do new and more stuff without having a balanced business plan which recognises above all else that in business cashflow is king?

Nothing to do with being a good or bad tailor, but having no track record in business and no good advice.

Probably won't have a happy ending.

What does this mean in UK - that he can reorganize and get relief from his creditors?
Was it the RTW aspect of his business that caused this?
Painful.
He is a talented man. Many loyal customers.
I hope it turns out OK.

Will you still receive it or is your deposit lost?

If you look at all of this tailors suits they are all simply cut and the fit is charming and beautiful. A combination extremely rare these days. It is his skills that make all work together. When he is gone it is over. You cannot transfer talent and understanding and charm.

...a sad story. :(

Another proof that it's better -- or at least safer -- to stick to bespoke.

A shame all 'round. The workers worked very well together to make a swell garment. They should be taken care of. I was one of them for years. A person working proudly with their hands puts his or her soul into it.
Thanks , Culverwood.

Another mess in the small world of bespoke.

Never have been a customer of Mahon.
But I just hope this guy was not a crook.
I know he had a lot of satisfied customers.

Often these matters open to interpretation.

But financial matters can easily go awry for anyone, despite best intentions.

Seems that Mr Mahon is taking over a Cumbria operation called S Redmayne. Die,workwear! has an interview with him http://dieworkwear.com/post/16486913443 ... nglish-cut

It will be interesting to see what happens there. They seem to have a lot of mid-priced trade (copying, MTM, etc.).

Will he spend his day managing all that, or just be the bespoke cherry on top? Or will he lead the whole shop someplace totally different?
