Hey, new guy here. I am very happy I found this forum. I am wonder what do you all think if zippos and trench lighters. I happen to like both and consider purchesing either, though I am a non-smoker. Also, does anyone know where to get a custum zippo made from my own design, not engraved, enamaled?

I've been enjoying pipes and cigars for several years now and have frequently used a Zippo to light them. I've allowed it to burn for a few seconds to burn off that lovely petrol aroma and gotten very clean lights. The quality is there and they are very reliable, even in stiff winds and the warranty cannot be outdone.

I'm a bit foggy at this point in the day, but by trench lighter I'm thinking you would be speaking of the brass and nickle instrument of WWI heritage? I've owned a replica but never tried to light a cigar with it.

On the topic of a custom Zippo - if my memory serves Zippo will do custom work, but you have to order quite a number. I don't think they'll do a single. You can contact them and ask to verify this though.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Yes, and I am thinking of the brass and nickle ones, that used to be made of shell casings.
