I am going to have my first mohair suit made up. Unfortunately I did not get in on the original subscription of the LL navy mohair so I am probably opting for Dormeuil's Tonik 2000.

It will probably be a 6x2 double breasted suit...intended mostly for warm weather use.

I was just wondering about people's experience with mohair and construction preferences.

Have you opted for fully lined or half lined jackets? What about trouser lining?

How suitable in general is Mohair for warm weather?

Your feedback is much appreciated.

Slightly off topic, but I would be interested in doing a re-run of the plain navy mohair as it truly is spectacular. If others are interested as well, we might be able to do it :D

PS: as to your questions I think a half-lined jacket and partly lined trousers would be the way to go. Just like linen, mohair is great for warm weather use, but unlike linen mohair doesn't crease – a winner for formal clothes on hot days.

PPS: A 6x2 is exactly what I have i mind for the navy mohair as well, should it be re-produced 8)

I prefer wool/Mohair in hot climates, I find it keeps its shape better and when traveling it always looks good straight out of the case. I have never bothered having the trousers fully lined. Im just off this week to Welsh and Jefferies to order a suit - it will be grey wool/mohair. Dr T
