No-one more than I considers the 1970s a decade of grim retrenchment, excessive infatuation with novelty and generally bad taste. However, re-watching, recently, Woody Allen's "Annie Hall", I was reminded how exaggerated is the modern protrayal of clothing, etc. in past decades like the 60s, 70s even the 1980s. Thee is a lot of actually tasteful, understated clothing in that film.
