A friend is visiting London for one week starting today and is asking advice about where to buy a tweed jacket. I've just realised I don't have a clue! I went from vintage/new-old-stock to bespoke skipping everything in between (which has been quite lucky).
He now lives in Israel, so I can understand why he doesn't want to spend much money on a tweed jacket. He mentioned Topman as an example, but LL members might have more names to add to the list. Any suggestion (before the end of October) is welcome.
Thank you!

Oliver Brown, Sloan Square tube. Walker Slater in the Fulham Road. And Cordings of course.
Cordings is definitely the place to go, but just for completeness: Farlows, William & Son, William Evans, Purdey, Holland & Holland. Latter two are quite expensive.

For an afternoon's entertainment, a trip to Cordings is a must.
For what I think is about the best RTW tweed jacket in terms of quality of cloth and fit, I would suggest one made by Bladen and sold by a variety or retailers, such as :

Or use their retailer-finder :

Dear Man at C&A,
Dear andreyb,
Dear Melcombe,
Many thanks for the prompt reply and the many recommendations. I am planning to take my friend to Jermyn Street tomorrow. He collects hats, cigars and shaving items; our visits there usually last a whole day ...I also noticed that some of the shops you suggested for tweed sell guns - now I'm sure sure he will book me for a second full-day! Thank you again.
Kind regards,
f

I also recommend Walker Slater. A bit out of the way unles one lives in West london, but great quality-price ratio.
