I read this article earlier this morning and it really is spot on. Red socks, colourful trousers, and that sense of being totally at home with how it all hangs together only comes with age and experience.

Wearing snuff suede tassel loafers with a mid -blue bespoke suit, a shirt in any shade of pale blue you care to choose, plain or check, and a lime green or bottle green grenadine, will always get an admiring look from the ladies.............even if they are looking at the outfit and not the wearer!!

I can't deny that I now belong to the class of "older men", as much as my mind reels at the thought. I certainly dress better than I did as a young man, and better than I did for most of my adult life. I'd like to think I am more stylish than I once was, but it's not for me to say. But age has brought a resolve to dress better than I did, and perhaps stylishness will follow in time.

I think it is something about confidence which comes with age.

I am 60 years old, a touch under 6 foot tall, 44" chest, 34" waist and just over 13 stone in weight. I am, in the right environment, quite happy to wear Levi 501s with a white T shirt, corn coloured cords with a guernsey style sweater, or a bespoke suit with all the appropriate fixings.

It is to do with how confident you are about your own presentation, knowing what to wear when and, most importantly I think, not trying too hard.
