David Saxby -- Moved locations or closed?
I was walking throught the Picadilly? Arcade the other day on the way to a meeting. I noticed that the David Saxby store was closed and empty. Have they moved? If so, where? If not, is Saxby out of business?
Isn't he in Prince's Arcade?
Perhaps Saxby moved into his other store?

You might be right. Other than the Burlington Arcade, I always getting the names of the other Arcades wrong.alden wrote:Isn't he in Prince's Arcade?
He has closed the store. I walked past on Saturday and everything was gone.
I suspect he was having trouble making a go of it in the West End. It was a relatively large store and I fear that he would have had to sell a awful lot of cravats and tweed caps to cover the rent. I have heard that his landlord was also trying to raise the rent.

Gosh. How disappointing. I have some outstanding orders with David at present. I've sent him an email.

Hello - this is my first post on the London Lounge. I look forward to participating with you all and I trust you will find my views balanced and considerate.
I visited David Saxby in the last week of October and I discussed placing an outsize order for a tweed coat in the next batch of coats he was getting made up. There was no mention of him closing down - how disappointing.

I've spoken to David Saxby. He assured me that it is business as usual, albeit from a different location. The Princes Arcade shop became too costly and unpredictable. David had a vintage clothing store at 66 Fulham High Street and I understand that he's bought another outlet nearby for new clothing sales.
David is doing quite well. I spoke to him last month and he has closed the Burlington Arcade store ("Old Hat") and focussed on his other store on Fulham High St. As already mentioned, it was the money - just not enough to justify the space at that high-end location.
"Rumors of his passing are greatly exaggerated".
