Hi All,

My local tailor isn't a "shirt" guy and I was wondering if any of you could recommend a remote shirt tailor, preferably who has access to LL Linens? My tailor could take the measurements for me and then we could send them to a specialist from there.

I was very impressed with Mary F's work relating to Michael's recent commission (posted in the LL Linen thread). Does anyone know if she would accept dimensions from my tailor and perform MTM? Also, does she correspond in English (my Italian is bad/non-existent)? Her website is entirely in Italian and so I'm guessing not?

Any and all suggestions on how to proceed would be sincerely appreciated.

Happy Holidays.

Hi Doug,

I doubt if Mary Frittolini would be able to work remotely, however she does correspond in extremely good English. Here is an extract of her description of the process:

"The basic elements of my shirt are:

- Taking measurements
- drafting a personal paper pattern
- Fitting with a sample shirt
- washing fabric before cutting
- traditional sewing single-needle
- hand-stitched buttonholes
- hand-embroidered monogram
- pure mother of pearl hand-sewn buttons

Shirts are washed and pressed before delivery
Wide choice of finest quality fabrics..."

I have not yet had the pleasure of making up my linen with her however she advised me to take my own measurements, send them to her, then attend a sample shirt fitting in person. She does travel to Paris and, occasionally, London. She does not carry LL Linen but will do a CMT price if you provide your own fabric.

Email her at maryfrittolini@libero.it

Hope this helps,
Rob

Real shirt tailors are in very short supply. Two I could recommend are Budds of Piccadilly Arcade in London who have their workrooms above the shop - the other is Haste, Latcher and Kent of Sackville Street - just a short distance away. Hope this helps.
